Problems of the world financial system from a dyslexic's point of view (or why i hate money)

Money: Every one wants it and those who have it want more of it. Money: Has more to do with numbers than anything else. Numerical value of the note, numerical value of the cost, numerical value of its quantity. Cost: The amount of money has to pay for a service or product.  Everything costs money. The system we live in is based on money. Everything is valued with it. Value goes up and down with supply and demand. Which means that a billionaire has more rights because he can afford something that has high demand but low supply while a person who is in more dire need of it cannot. We pick up the phone to talk to an old friend, we pay the cost. We live in a house or apartment, we pay the cost. Transportation, costs. Keeping good health, costs. We take a dump and flush the toilet and we pay a cost, the cost of the water we just used to flush the toilet, the cost of waste our body generates from the food we bought over the phone for delivery to eat at the house we live in. appa...

A greater revolution is brewing

The Arab Spring started in Tunisia. All though it was an ARAB spring, the entire world was captivated and enthralled in the bravery of those who stood in the face of brutal suppression of the Arab regimes with their tear gas, bullets and tanks. It started in Tunisia and spread to Egypt and then Libya, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Iraq, and Syria. Absent still are the voices of the Iranian protesters, but their time will come soon enough. The world watched with horror as people where slaughtered and despots deposed. Despite the continuing agony of the Libyan and Syrian people, and despite the heavy crack down in Bahrain, the aspirations of the people did not diminish. And the world watched with amazement with western powered too confounded to react. For decades they have tried to instill such change in the east and failed. They failed because they advanced such motions as means to advance their own interests rather than that of the people, and they failed bec...

Syrian teen blogger Tal al-Mallouhi may be dead.

Tel al-Mellouhi , the 19 year old girl who blogged poems off Palestine and was arrested last year on charges of espionage and sentenced for five years in prison may be dead . Unconfirmed source indicate that she may have died in her sleep because wounds sustained from the brutal torture she was allegedly subjected to during her incarceration.  Unlike the "Gay Girl in Damascus" hoax blogger , Tel is a very real girl and her incarceration is both documented and corroborated by human rights groups. She blogged passionately with the strong convictions of her integrity and paid for it because of a paranoid state that will not tolerate decent. A regime that is bent on murdering all those who oppose it, domestic and foreign.  To die so young for an unconscionable reason is a tragedy beyond comprehension. All this courageous girl did was write poems and blog for a cause that she believed in. she did not incite violence. She did not call for the over throw of the Assad regime. Yet ...

Fears of a dyslexic in a modern world

I am a passionate person. I like to revel in emotions and to feel like I have a purpose in life. I am a natural lover…. And I don’t mean the lecherous kind. I love unconditionally. Anything and everything that speaks to my soul. I am an Arab. A Lebanese more specifically. I am also part Armenian and part Russian. Passion is not only in my jeans but a reality for me. I have a strong urge to be the best I can be I have a strong urge to be someone with a purpose. I have a strong urge to be. I am a dyslexic. What “experts” call a learning disabled. It is true. I am learning disabled. I have a hard time paying attention. I have a hard time staying in focus. I have created a persona for myself to integrate into society as a fully functioning human being. But I am only pretending. I am only deluding myself. I am not one who lies. Only one who tells the truth as he knows it at that exact moment not more. I have lost my purpose. I have lost my innocence. I have lost my pas...

Greek debt and the moment of truth

It is a sad moment in the history of humanity. A moment that has repeated itself countless of times and even more so in recent times. The financial crisis of the last few years has placed Greece, among other countries, in quite a fix. The government has introduced austerity measures to satisfy the capitalist leaders of Europe and such organizations as the IMF. The International Monitory Fund is a cesspool of bean counters who may know a lot about finances but have absolutely no understanding of human well being, imposing rules and regulations on each country it assists, insisting that the governments start running their country more like a ruthless corporation and demanding cuts in spending for social programs that may not seem important to them, adding to the brain drain and the dumbing down of the world population. Social programs are vital; people pay taxes so that they can support the state in which they live which in turn supplies the constituents with services like Medicare, e...

Why I Became an Atheist -Part 2

With my new found knowledge of various religions and the realization that they all basically said the same thing, I once again became at odds with myself as I tried to ease the conflict within me that was pulling me in different directions; what is my religion? After many sleepless nights I decided to ask the one person I could trust to give me an honest answer; my mother. My Mother is a wonderful  person. I think she would have made a competent scholar had she been given a chance  But a chance she did not get for the war had started and all of her generations dreams where torn asunder. In spite of all the hardship, my mother managed to keep her mind active and her knowledge fresh as she pursued her interests whenever she could find herself a decent book.  So my mother was well read on various topics that concern our world, mostly, and some of the more esoteric s...

Money Is The Root Of All Evil.

Money is the root of all evil. Short of sounding like some sort of litany from some sort of obscure religious text, or, more likely, some sort of old cliché. But there is a lot of truth in these words. Money. Currency. We are driven by it all. By this system. Capitalism. Profit. Greed. Every day we wake up and head off to the office, or the field, or whatever, and we try to make a living within a system that is anything but egalitarian. Just to pay the bills. To survive. To live the way we like. Some have it easy. Some have it hard. Some have it in ludicrous quantities. Some have nothing of it at all. In a world where poverty still exits. In a world where it all makes perfect sense when expressed in terms of currency. In a world where we have to struggle with this system to feel human. What madness is this? We do not need money to live. We need food. We need shelter. We need comfort. We do not need money to evolve. We need know age. We need awareness. We need understanding.  S...
